UNIVAL 100 in German Textile Research Institute


The Textile Research Institute Thüringen-Vogtland (TITV) in Greiz, Germany recently commissioned a new weaving system consisting of a Dornier Type PT rapier weaving machine and a Stäubli UNIVAL 100 Jacquard machine. 
Research and development of high-tech textiles, for example for the medical industry, technical applications, smart textiles, and multi-layer textiles, are among the main research activities of the TITV.


The new weaving system, and especially the UNIVAL 100, equipped with 6144 hooks, promises the necessary flexibility for researching material properties and production methods for the manufacture of new types of woven structures.


The commissioning celebration and handover to the institute took place in December 2009. The event was attended by the institute management, guests from political and business circles, and representatives of the main suppliers Stäubli and Dornier, Karl Kirschner, Managing Director of Stäubli Bayreuth, and Siegfried Sachs, Sales Director of Lindauer Dornier.
